Level 1 Salsa: Basic footwork and Combinations

Tuesdays, 7PM (drop-in, no registration required)

Level 1 classes are intended for beginners and less-experienced dancers. Each class works on basic footwork, timing, and rhythm as well as basic partnering concepts, turns, and combinations. Figures taught in Level 1 include the cross-body lead, right and left spot turns, and inside and outside progressive turns. It is recommended that students attend a minimum of eight level one classes before moving to Level 2.

Level 2 Salsa: Intermediate shines and Patterns

Thursdays, 7PM (drop-in, no registration required)

Level 2 classes are intended for dancers with strong basic salsa skills. Students should have no difficulty staying on time with the music and should be able to lead and follow Level 1 combinations with relative ease. Each class works on solo footwork (shines) and a turn pattern.

Level 3 Salsa: Performance Choreography

Partner Choreography – Tuesdays, 8PM (3 month program, registration required)

Choreography Courses are designed for students who are confident with Level 2 salsa shines and patterns who want the extra challenge of learning a routine and performing it publicly. It is recommended that students attend a minimum of eight level two classes before moving to Level 3.

Ladies Choreography – Thursdays, 8PM (3 month program, registration required)

Ladies Choreography Courses are designed for women who are familiar with Level 1 turns and Level 2 salsa shines who want the extra challenge of learning a routine and performing it publicly.

Notes

  • Level 1 and Level 2 classes are offered on a drop-in basis. There is no need to register in advance, and each class is a stand-alone experience.
  • No parter is required for any of our classes; we encourage partners to rotate during class. Doing this allows us to dance with all our students and generally enhances the learning process.
  • Comfortable clothes are recommended. Shoes (or socks) that allow the dancer to spin and pivot are recommended. High-heels (no higher than 3″) are OK, but we recommend bringing a change of shoes, just in case!
