Since founding Mezclando Milwaukee Dance Company in 2008, husband and wife team Matt Woida and Betsy Guerrero have worked to build a strong and inclusive Latin dance community in southeast Wisconsin. Aside from teaching weekly dance classes, Matt and Betsy direct several amateur dance teams and host Milwaukee’s longest-running salsa social every “First Friday” of the month at Delaware House in Bay View. Other projects include an annual summertime Rueda de Casino series (“La Gran Rueda”), outreach programming on behalf of Danceworks Inc., and community dance classes through the Milwaukee Recreation Department. Since 2009, Matt has maintained MilwaukeeSalsa.org, a website he created for the promotion of Latin dance instructors, performers, bands, and events in southeast Wisconsin.

The name Mezclando Milwaukee describes the act of mixing and pays tribute to the mixture (la mezcla in Spanish) of styles and cultures that define not only Latin dance, but the city of Milwaukee itself. Nothing makes Matt and Betsy happier than bringing together people of all ages, ethnicities, and walks-of-life and putting them into motion!
