Group Classes

Group classes at Delaware House studio are a great way to get started with Latin dance in a fun and social atmosphere. View our schedule here or read our class descriptions below.

Level 1 Salsa: Basic footwork and Combinations

Tuesdays, 7PM (drop-in, no registration required)

Level 1 classes are intended for beginners and less-experienced dancers. Each class works on basic footwork, timing, and rhythm as well as basic partnering concepts, turns, and combinations. Figures taught in Level 1 include the cross-body lead, right and left spot turns, and inside and outside progressive turns. It is recommended that students attend a minimum of eight level one classes before moving to Level 2.


Level 2 Salsa: Intermediate shines and Patterns

Thursdays, 7PM (drop-in, instructor consultation recommended)

Level 2 classes are intended for dancers with strong basic salsa skills. Students should have no difficulty staying on time with the music and should be able to lead and follow Level 1 combinations with relative ease. Each class works on solo footwork (shines) and a turn pattern.


Level 3 Salsa: Intermediate Salsa “On2”

Thursdays, 8PM (drop-in, instructor consultation recommended)

Thursday Level 3 salsa classes are intended for dancers with strong intermediate salsa skills who want to improve their musicality and learn how to dance “On2”. Students should have no difficulty staying on time with the music and should be able to lead and follow Levels 1 and 2 combinations with relative ease. Each class works on solo footwork (shines) and a turn pattern.


All Levels Bachata: Basic footwork, body movement and turn patterns

Tuesdays, 8PM (drop-in, no registration required)

Round-out your repertoire with bachata and dance on a more intimate level. All Level Bachata classes are intended for beginner and intermediate dancers alike. Each class works on basic footwork, timing, and rhythm as well as basic body movement, partnering concepts, turns, and combinations.


Prices 

  • All drop-in group classes are $10/class “pay-as-you-go” or $8/class with a punch pass.
  • Class fees are charged per person.
  • Punch passes are $64 (good for 8 classes) and may be used towards any group class.
  • We accept cash, checks, and most major credit cards.

Notes

  • All classes are offered on a drop-in basis; no advance registration required. It is recommended that students consult with an instructor before attempting a level 2 or 3 salsa class.
  • No parter is required to attend class; dancers are encouraged to rotate partners during class.
  • Comfortable clothes are recommended. Shoes (or socks) that allow the dancer to spin and pivot are recommended. High-heels (no higher than 3″) are OK, but back-up shoes are recommended, just in case!
